CHARLIE Caton has ended the regular National League North season on a high - and now he is ready for the play-offs!

Former Ysgol Brynhyfryd student Caton found the back of the net as Chester ended a brilliant season in the league with a 4-0 home success versus Buxton.

Caton, who is on loan at the Deva Stadium from Shrewsbury Town, struck in the second half.

Chester will play either Brackley Town or Gloucester City next Sunday in the semi-finals of the play-offs.

Blues' boss Calum McIntyre was understandably pleased with his side's showing and he told Chester FC TV: "The manner of performance, impressive in both halves, really consistent with the opportunities and the openings we created and I was pleased that we did that pretty consistently over 90 minutes.

"Didn't rely on a 20-minute spell, a 45-minute spell. I thought we were really consistent.

"Two clean sheets back-to-back. Made a lot of changes between the two games.

"We talked around how we finished the season. Any suggestion that we might have nothing to play for in the last two games, I think that's a ludicrous comment.

"Absolutely farcical for any team at this level. You set up and you set up to win."
