RUTHIN TOWN 0
FLINT TOWN UNITED 3
AT half-time Ruthin Town were still well in the game at home to Cymru Alliance title challengers Flint Town United.
The dangerous Flint forwards hadn’t really created too much going forward and Adie Jones’ charges looked pretty comfortable as they went into the interval goalless.
But whatever was said in the visitors’ dressing room at half-time appeared to have the desired effect as Flint managed to step up a gear and at the end they had built up a comfortable winning scoreline.
The first half was a rather low-key affair.
Flint were limited to few chances, with Ruthin goalkeeper Simon Williams in commanding form.
Ruthin didn’t create much either, and their best chance fell to Lennox Beddows when he shot wide.
Ruthin had some joy down the left hand side through Mike Garrod, although the delivery into the danger zone wasn’t of sufficient quality to trouble the visiting backline.
After the interval it was a different story as Flint demonstrated why they are title challengers this season.
After an hour, the deadlock was broken after Simon Williams didn’t get enough on an attempted punch and Paul Williams scored.
Ruthin’s hopes of claiming something from the match were extinguished when Mark Hobson received his marching orders after fouling hitman Shaun Beck in the box for his second bookable offence.
Jon Kennedy tucked away the penalty kick and it was game over.
There was still time for the visiting side to add a third goal as the impressive Alan Dawson thumped home a cracker from 25 yards.
