PWLLHELI 55
DINBYCH 16
TRIPS to Pwllheli haven’t quite gone in Dinbych’s favour this season.
Russ Rowlands’ charges made their second visit to Pwllheli this season on Saturday and the outcome was another heavy loss.
In the North Wales Cup tie between the sides in autumn the Gwynedd outfit racked up 60 points, while their reward in the league meeting was to score 55.
Pwllheli crossed for nine tries on the day to move up to third in the SWALEC League Division One (North) standings.
Second row Mark Saynor led the home side’s try-fest with a hat-trick of scores, and he was joined on the scoresheet by prop Alwyn Tremholme (2), scrum-half Gareth Padgett (2), centre Dylan Morris and winger Tomos Henry.
Pwllheli full back Gethin Roberts kicked five conversions.
It wasn’t quite all one-way traffic, however, as Dinbych’s reward on a tough afternoon was a brace of tries.
Dan Sullivan and Phil Morris both crossed the home side’s whitewash, with Dion Howatson converting both of them.
To make the day even worse for basement side Dinbych, relegation rivals Llandudno boosted their hopes of staying up by picking up an unlikely losing bonus point at champions and title favourites Nant Conwy.
