THIS week the weather has been unsettled at Llyn Brenig, reports Sam Bradshaw.

There has been a strong breeze that has moved around to the east and this has brought short heavy showers. The water temperature is around 13C.

On Saturday we hosted the Anglian Water Welsh heat and the weather was better than forecast. Al
l competitors seemed to struggle, with the rod average for the day being only 1.5.

Claret Dabblers of Northern Ireland won the heat with a total of 20 fish weighing in at 42lb 3oz.

The best fish - 9lb 12oz - went to Greg White of the Emerald Islanders, while the best bag of the day went to John Roberts of Adail Ty-Nant who had six fish for 15lb 3oz.

We have spent in excess of £10,000 to buy two new engines for our patrol boats. In addition new boats and engines have been ordered and the phone contact number for the rangers' office is being installed in each boat.

The rod average has dropped greatly this week to 2.5-fish-per-angler.
Best bag of the week went to I Walker of Widnes who had five fish for 12lb 1oz. John Rogers of Denbigh took home six fish for 12lb, the largest weighing 4lb 8oz, while P J Horlock of Oswestry caught six fish for 11lb 2oz.

Boat hotspots of the week seem to be the north end off the ring of stones and around barrow island, also down the end of the arm and sailing club.

Bank hotspots seem to be sailing club, between the visitor centre and the dam and Nantglyn bank.

The best method on the bank seems to be intermediate lines fished at 40 yards with a couple of flies, and for the boats intermediate or sinking lines with a long leader with a couple of flies.

Tight Lines!
