THIS was always going to be a tough Division One fixture for newly promoted Corwen and this was compounded by the dampness of the pitch.
Kevin Sharp and Colin Nicoll started steadily but in the seventh over Sharp drove at a Mark Poynton delivery and was well caught in the slips for one and he was followed quickly by Nicoll for five and Nathan Aldridge for four.
Corwen were now relying on the veteran pairing of Matthew Duckworth and Steve Swygart.
