TALENTED travellers Ruthin are just loving their away days at the moment!
Saturday's victory at Gresford made it nine points from a possible nine away from home for Adie Jones' Ruthin, as they remain within a point of league leaders Bala.
Both sides created chances early on, but it was Ruthin who secured an advantage when Gary Ellison headed home a corner.
Gresford – searching for their first win of the season – fought well to level the score and they felt they should have had a penalty around the half-hour mark for an alleged foul on Craig Williams.
Nothing was given – and seconds later Ruthin had stretched their lead.
A free kick resulted in Kevin Breeze doubling the visitors' advantage.
Gresford came out strongly after half time and good work from Craig Williams and Dan Hughes saw the latter being brought down for a penalty in the 50th minute, which was converted by captain Max Peate.
Were there any signs of Ruthin nerves after this goal? No!
They responded straight from the kick off and Gary Ellison crept in for his second headed goal a minute later following another free kick.
Gresford's hopes were further hit when Steve Cowap saw red for foul language, evening up the numbers after Ruthin had a player sent off late in the first half.
The home side were then down to nine men with a quarter-of-an-hour to go when Hugh Jones was red carded for foul language.
This did not deter the home side from looking to achieve something from the game and in the 80th minute Craig Williams looked certain to score when he collected an excellent ball floated over the defence but advancing keeper Simon Williams stood strong and pushed the ball out for a corner.
In the 89th minute Owen Roberts' corner fell into the six-yard box and was scrambled into the back of the net by Mike Pugh but despite four minutes of injury time they were unable to level.
