(Llangollen won 6-4)

SECOND-from-bottom Llangollen claimed by far their best win of the season with a thrilling success at Division Six promotion shoe-ins Halkyn.

Llan boosted their tally of wins up to five with a nail-biting four-run success at the league leaders, who slumped to only their second loss of the summer.

The visitors won the toss and opted to bat first, but they were soon in trouble after losing four fairly early wickets.

Opener Tony Mash and number six Neil Roberts set about a repair mission to ensue Llangollen had a total to defend, as Mash top scored with 37, while Williams' unbeaten 34 guided Llan to 120-7 off their 45 overs.

A tally of 30 extras also helped the cause, but a comfortable Halkyn win looked certain after Shaun Gibson (30), Ian Mercer (24) and Gareth Prestidge (21) enjoyed a boundary bonanza.

Spearheaded by three wickets from Mash, Llangollen forged a fantastic recovery to run through the tail and bowl Halkyn out for 116.
