AT the annual Surf Life Saving Association Wales presentation evening held in Porthcawl on Saturday, October 10, Rhoose Lifeguards were announced as the winners of the first ever Welsh Superclub Trophy.

Jake Bremner (club chairman) accepted the huge trophy from John Gwyn (chair of the SLSA Wales Sports Commission) on behalf of the club. This award is based on combined points from nipper, junior, senior and master competitions in both stillwater and ocean events.

The club was also presented with the 2009 Masters Trophy which was accepted by Simon Parker (vice club captain) from Jon Gwyn and the club members who were selected for the Welsh Team were presented with their Welsh Caps. Well done.

Congratulations to all the competitors who took part in the various competitions throughout the year and thanks to the dedication and commitment of parents, helpers, sponsors and particularly the coaches and officials who's voluntary efforts in training and running the club, towing trailers, maintaining equipment and craft, fundraising etc play a crucial part in the success of the club.
