GB MTB orienteering international Sarah Bayliss (Rhyl CC) took fifth place in the veteran women's event at the National MTB cross-country championships at Ringwood in Hampshire.

Bayliss was just over eight minutes behind winner Debbie Burton (Activ Cycles Folkestone/Trek) after one hour of forest racing.

Towyn's Andy Williamson (Foel DH Riders/Fenwicks) took 24th in the masters category at the National Downhill
MTB Champships near Bala on Sunday, finishing 22 seconds behind winner Mark Milward (Swinnerton Cycles) after the two runs.

At U-10 level, David Tudor (Rhyl CC) made an excellent debut in road racing at the Litherland (Liverpool) circuit on Saturday, taking ninth place to national U-10 champion Leighton Sharman (Liverpool Century), with Seren Kerfoot-Robson (Rhos-On-Sea CC) in fifth place.

In the U-8s, St Asaph's Sol Kerfoot-Robson (Rhos-On-Sea CC) had a tough battle with Eastlands Velo rider Kim Baptista, who beat him in the first 'sprint' race, but got the better of her in the second.

Amid wind and rain, Dylan Kerfoot-Robson and Gwyn Lovibond (Rhyl CC) found the going hard in race two over 15 kilometres in the U-12s' race, Robson spending most of the race in an unsuccessful but brave lone pursuit of the five leaders to take sixth place behind newly-crowned national champion Charlie Tanfield (Cleveland Wheelers), with Lovibond also trying to react to the leading move, taking 14th place.

Earlier in the sprint race over 3km, the pair placed second and sixth. Rhyl CC's Tom Sharp and James Rew's best placings were equal 17th, and Sam Mills was 18th in the U-14s.

VC Melyd's Alan Overson took third place in the Cheshire / Shropshire 100-mile time trial on Sunday with a four hour 12 minutes ride.
