NINE minutes of madness cost Denbigh the chance of securing a first away win of the season at Guilsfield.

The Mid Wales side – celebrating the opening of their new ground – scored three times in less than 10 minutes before the break to all-but wrap up the points.

Denbigh deserved better in a match they dominated for large chunks.

The opening 20 minutes belonged to the Central Park side, but they failed to turn their pressure into goals and this proved costly as Guilsfield took the lead on the 20-minute mark.

Assistant Denbigh boss Dean Martin had no complaints about a spot kick award for a foul, describing it as a "stupid penalty" and Dan Graham converted to give the hosts the lead.

Five minutes later and it was 2-0 as Tom Reynolds latched on to a decent through ball and he finished well, while number three came in the 29th minute as Craig Stephens scored straight from a corner.

Things were to get no better for Denbigh as they were reduced to 10 men minutes into the second half after the sending off of Tony Davies for a second yellow card.

To the visitors' credit, they failed to cave in and Denbigh created a whole host of chances in the second half.

Gareth Martin hit the crossbar with an effort, as did new signing Chris Williams, while Kenny Burgess had a shot cleared off the line as Denbigh turned up the heat.

Ian Evans was thwarted by the home keeper, but the visitors finally gained some reward when Gareth Martin grabbed a consolation goal with 10 minutes to play.
