THE youngest player at a World Cup Finals is heading for Llangollen.

Norman Whiteside is the guest of Llangollen Town FC for a sportsman's dinner at the Bryn Howell Hotel, Llangollen on Saturday, February 28, 2009.

Whiteside was aged just 17 years and 41 days when he played for Northern Ireland at the 1982 finals in Spain.

Another Whiteside highlight was the superb curling effort that ensured 10-man Manchester United beat double-chasing Everton 1-0 in the 1985 FA Cup final.

He will be joined in Llangollen by comedian John Martin.
