MORE of the same, please!

That's the message from team boss Colin Caton ahead of another important weekend for Bala Town.

The Lakesiders strengthened their hopes of qualifying for next season's UEFA Europa League when they brilliantly defeated Gwynedd rivals Bangor City away from home last Friday.

That 2-1 triumph moved Bala above their county rivals and up to second spot in the JD Welsh Premier League standings.

"It's one of our best performances of the season," admitted Caton.

"The lads were outstanding, especially the way they controlled the game."

Caton is looking for more of the same this Friday as he takes his side to Park Hall to tackle champions-elect The New Saints in another pivotal contest.

Victory for Bala will see them go four points clear in the race to finish as runners-up, while a win for The New Saints will effectively wrap-up yet another championship.

Caton added: "We will be at full strength, so it's good at the moment."

In further news, Maes Tegid will be the setting for a huge encounter early next month.

Bala Town FC were delighted to be chosen as one of the venues for the JD Welsh Cup semi-final ties.

The last-four clash between Newtown and Aberystwyth Town will be held at Maes Tegid on Sunday, April 8.

It is more than two decades since the two Mid Wales sides faced each other in the national competition.

The Seasiders edged a third round replay 1-0 back in season 1995/96.

Kick-off on April 8 will be at midday and the tie will be streamed live on the Sgorio Facebook page, in addition to the S4C website.

The Mid Wales derby clash is sure to be highly competitive, as both teams chase a place in Welsh football’s showpiece game for the second time in recent years.

Newtown reached the final in 2015, a year after Aberystwyth Town had done so.

It is the first time ever that a Welsh Cup semi-final will have been held in Bala, who won the competition for the first time in their history last season with a 2-1 victory over The New Saints.

Bala Town chief executive Nigel Aykroyd said: "As a club, we are extremely proud to be hosting such an important match and a huge thanks to the FAW and Gwynedd Council for providing the support for the superb facility at Maes Tegid.”
