IT'S been a busy time over at Maes Tegid.

Bala Town have announced their first summer signing ahead of the 2018/19 season.

Returning to Maes Tegid is defender Sean Smith, who joins the club from Connah’s Quay.

The left back spent one season in 2014/15 at Maes Tegid, when he made 37 starts for the Lakesiders.

Smith started out at Wrexham and he joined Connah's Quay on loan in 2015.

After a year at Town, he rejoined the Nomads, making 104 appearances in all competitions.

Bala are also pleased to announce that Nathan Burke has penned a new contract with the club.

Burke, who joined the Lakesiders in January 2016, has extended his contract, taking the total of re-signed players with the club up to eight.

The central midfielder picked up manager's player of the year award for Bala last season, following a campaign which saw him score four goals in 34 matches.

Evan Horwood has also signed an extension to his Town contract.

A summer addition last year from Chester, Evan started 17 games for the Lakesiders and he scored twice in his debut season at Maes Tegid.

Forward Mike Hayes is another player who has penned a new contract with the Lakesiders.

He has signed for a fifth full season at Maes Tegid after scoring nine times in 36 appearances last season.

Last month, he was awarded the players' player of the year accolade.

In addition, Town defender Stuart J Jones has signed a new contract extension with the Lakesiders.

Jones has made 28 first-team appearances for the Lakesiders and he has built up a superb partnership alongside his namesake Stuart Jones in the heart of the defence.
