BODEDERN 129-6

RUTHIN 127-7

DESPITE suffering their first defeat of the season, Ruthin still occupy a spot in the promotion places.

The side from Memorial Park Fields has enjoyed a good start to the North Wales Cricket League Division Two campaign, but they were second best during their long trek to Bodedern over the weekend.

Ruthin skipper Duncan Roberts took the bat first option after winning the toss.

Opener Rhodri Edwards led the visitors' charge with his knock of 56, while good support was supplied by the likes of Matthew Duckworth (20), Wil Jones (12) and Jonathan Clayton (10 not out).

When their 45 overs were up, Ruthin had managed to reach 127-7.

The home response was not without its trials or tribulations and they eventually reached a winning 129-6 with just over five overs to spare.

Key to the successful chase were opener Matthew Jackson (31) and Jordan Taylor (37 not out).

Doing the damage for Ruthin with the ball were Matthew Duckworth (2-20) and Sion Hughes (2-21), while Jonathan Clayton and Matthew Best instigated a pair of run outs.

Bodedern were left to claim 12 of the 15 points that were on offer.
