BRYMBO 107-3
DENBIGH 106
DEFEAT at the league leaders was the story of the weekend for Denbigh.
A testing trip was in the offing on Saturday for the Ystrad Road side as they paid a visit to early season North Wales Cricket League Premier Division frontrunners Brymbo.
Batting woes were the main feature of the afternoon for the visitors.
Brymbo captain James Claybrook called correctly during the pre-match toss and he invited Denbigh to make first use of the batting track.
The visitors were soon in a spot of bother when they were reduced to 14-2, although captain Harrison Jones and Sam Lewis attempted to rectify things.
The duo had put together a 24-run stand for the third wicket when Lewis departed.
Things didn't really improve after this, with only Harrison Jones (16), Andy Clarke (15) and extras (18) reaching double figures as Denbigh were bowled out for 106 in the final over.
Mohamed Nilam Jayman (3-21) and Daniel Parry (3-25) were the pick of the home attack.
Brymbo didn't breeze their way to victory when it was their turn to bat and they had to recover after being reduced to 20-2 during the early portion of their reply.
Joe Lewis (2-23) bagged both of the early wickets to fall.
Patient efforts from Conner Davies (36) and Joss Roberts (28 not out) proved pivotal as Brymbo reached a winning 107-3 in the 38th over.
The remaining Denbigh wicket taker was Andy Clarke (1-4), as Brymbo claimed the majority of the points in a 13-2 split.
