SATURDAY'S trip to Gwersyllt Park turned out to be a losing one for Corwen in North Wales Cricket League action.

It was Corwen who won the toss and they elected to bat first during the Division Two match.

Martin Evans Jones (18), Kevin Sharp (17) and Nicholas Scott (12 not out) were the main scorers as Corwen were bowled out for 86 in the 41st over.

Gwersyllt Park responded with a winning 87-2 in the 25th over.

William Pooler (1-24) and Scott Kearns (1-24) shared the wickets.

Turning to the East Division and Ruthin 2nds gained a six-wicket success in their home clash with Halkyn 2nds.

Gethin Roberts (2-13), Rick Henderson (2-14), Ieuan Wynne Lewis (2-17), John Coulson (1-10) and Venkat Sundaram (1-13) shared the wickets as Halkyn were bowled out for 76.

Ruthin responded with 77-4, thanks to Ieuan Wynne Lewis (42 not out) and Jamie Hughes (21 not out).

Maeshafn Argoed picked up a maximum 15 points with their 10-wicket win over Rhewl, who scored 105-4 batting first.

Cameron Roche (58 not out) and Peter Ford (26 not out) led Maeshafn to a winning 106-0 in reply.
