LLANDYRNOG UNITED 4

TREARDDUR BAY UNITED 3

(After extra time)

IS Llandyrnog's name on this season's Mawddach Challenge Cup.

Ryan Harden's side appeared to be out of the competition when they trailed quarter-final visitors Trearddur Bay 2-0 with only 20 minutes remaining.

After battling back to level things up, the home United trailed once more with only five minutes remaining, but a late leveller and an extra time strike saw them edge to victory in a thriller by the odd-goal-in-seven.

A Llandyrnog mistake resulted in Trearddur Bay taking the lead through Dylan Roberts in the 22nd minute.

The tie looked to be done and dusted when Roberts scored his second goal after an hour, but Llandyrnog had other ideas.

Luke Appleby revamped the home side's hopes when he pulled a goal back with 20 minutes remaining and substitute Dan Porter made his mark with an equaliser after 81 minutes.

Neither side was prepared to wait for extra time and the Anglesey visitors claimed the lead once more when Steve Drudyke struck five minutes from time.

Game over? Not a bit of it!

Llandyrnog kept battling and a terrific 89th minute finish from Dion Jones made it three-apiece.

The drama continued into extra time and Llandyrnog claimed the lead for the first time in the 100th minute.

Dan Porter beat three would-be challengers and delivered a brilliant ball for Sam Lewis to volley in from six yards.

Still Trearddur Bay refused to throw in the towel and only a superb save from home keeper Stuart Griffiths maintained his side's advantage.
