RHEWL 2

LLANFAIR 3

THIS Summer League season is turning out to be a really competitive one.

Ahead of Thursday, only one club hadn't managed to secure a victory away from home.

Llanfair rectified this statistic - and they did it in some style by fighting back from being two goals adrift at high-flying Rhewl to win 3-2.

The star of the show was Llyr Morris, who bagged a second half hat-trick for Dylan Pugh's charges, who thoroughly deserved their third victory of the season.

Far removed from the eventual outcome, Rhewl made a dream start and they took the lead after only 50 seconds.

Dyfan Lloyd picked out the corner of the net to record his eighth goal of the season.

A peach of a goal doubled the lead for Sion Roberts' side in the 25th minute.

From wide out on the right, Ian Williams' chip sailed over the head of Llanfair number one Steve Roberts and into the far corner of the net.

Rhewl had a terrific chance to stretch their lead to three goals right on the stroke of half-time, but Dyfan Lloyd's free header ended up just wide of the target.

Dylan Pugh's team talk to his Llanfair players at the interval must have been a fantastic one and the visitors dominated the second 45 minutes.

After Elgan Lightfoot's earlier effort from the edge of the area went just over the top, Llanfair were right back in the contest in the 58th minute.

Striker Llyr Morris was allowed space to take a touch in the box before firing in his opening goal of the encounter.

It was Morris at the double with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining and he made it two-apiece via a powerful strike from 12 yards.

Llanfair continued pressing and from a 78th minute corner, one effort hit the post, before a follow-up shot was cleared off the line by a desperate Rhewl backline.

However, the noisy visiting supporters were cheering once again a minute later.

Llyr Morris cut in from the left and then rifled a shot into the corner of the net from 12 yards out to complete his hat-trick.

Set pieces hit into the dangerzone by Rhewl in the closing 10 minutes came to nothing and the better chances continued to go to Llanfair.

In injury time, a terrific save from Rhewl number one Dave Carroll kept alive hopes of a home fightback, but Llanfair comfortably defended their lead through to the final whistle.
