HENLLAN 17

HUGE credit goes to Clawddnewydd for making sure their home match with Henllan went ahead.

Victory at Top Park against the champions earlier in the season was a real highlight for Mark Lewis' side, however Clawddnewydd had trouble fielding a team for the return contest.

For the first half-an-hour, Clawdd only had seven players.

Things slightly improved with the introduction of an eighth figure, while the home side eventually finished up with nine men.

A Tweet from Henllan said "Absolute class effort from Clawddnewydd tonight, nothing but admiration for their spirit, there's many that could (and should) take their lead from them, a credit to their community."

Seeking a third consecutive Summer League title, Henllan strengthened their hopes courtesy of a 17-0 win.

Sam Jones led the scoring charge with eight goals on the night, taking his tally for the summer up to 31, just one adrift of the league's leading scorer Jake Walker.

Nedw Clwyd, Tom Sheridan and Ed Jones each found the target for the visitors, while also on the scoresheet were Tom Jones, Morgan Jones and player-boss Chris Brown.

This was Brown's first strike for the club in more than eight years and it takes his career total up to 99 goals.
