A SIDE that has played against Tottenham Hotspur in Europe is on the radar for the Lakesiders.

If Bala Town see off San Marino outfit Tre Fiori in the preliminary round of the UEFA Europa League, they will face Slovenian PrvaLiga Rudar Velenje in the first qualifying round.

Manager by Marijan Pušnik, Marijan Pušnik finished up fourth in their league last season, edging out rivals Celje for the final Europa League qualification spot.

They were last involved in European competition in 2014-15, being knocked out by Albanian club Laçi on penalties in the first qualifying round of the Europa League.

The club has qualified to play in European competitions on five occasions, winning three ties during that time.

Back in 1995, Rudar Velenje played Tottenham Hotspur in the Intertoto Cup and they were just beaten 2-1.

The ties will be played on July 12 and 19.

Meanwhile, the draw for the second qualifying round will take place at 1pm.

Bala missed out on a battle of Britain when the draw was made.

The other possible first qualifying round opponents for Bala were Scottish club Hibernian, Dundalk (Ireland), Sarpsborg (Norway), Häcken (Sweden) and Copenhagen (Denmark).

"There's massive games in there and we will just have to see what happens tomorrow," said Bala boss Colin Caton yesterday.

"But, I just want to focus on San Marino now."

Looking at the preliminary round, Bala's home leg versus SP Tre Fiori will be played at Rhyl on Thursday, July 5 (6.30pm).

Home supporters must buy tickets prior to entry to the ground via Rhyl’s ticket office on the day of the match.

Tickets will be on sale from mid-afternoon, costing £10 for adults and £5 concessions / U-16s.

Bala’s Europa League preparation started on Monday evening as they gained a 3-2 triumph at Cefn Druids.

Ian Sheridan (penalty), Nathan Burke and Steven Tames were all on the scoresheet for the visitors.
