DENBIGH Town Juniors FC is calling for support from the local community to help win a share of the Jewson Building Better Communities prize fund.

The club, which is run by volunteers, now needs your vote to help them secure a share of £250,000 in building materials.

Using its prize, Denbigh Town Juniors FC will fix the pitch that became waterlogged over winter and the club will also make the grounds safer for users.

To go forward in the competition, Denbigh Town Juniors FC now needs votes as the prizes will be allocated based on the results of the public vote, as well as recommendations from an industry judging panel.

Supporters need to act quickly, however, as voting closes today (Wednesday, June 20).

Thierry Dufour, managing director at Jewson, said: “Since we launched the Building Better Communities competition in 2015, we’ve seen first-hand the incredible work that community groups and tradespeople are doing across the UK.

"They’re making a huge difference in their local areas and we want to give back to them, which is why we’re urging residents in Denbigh to cast their vote and support a local cause that could benefit from a helping hand.”

The Building Better Communities initiative rewards both community projects and heroes of the building trade.

Jewson will award one community project up to £50,000, as well as many smaller prizes to other projects.

It will also give away £100,000 of the overall fund to tradespeople who go above and beyond in their local area, or builders who have always supported others but now find themselves in need.

The winning projects will be announced on Tuesday, July 3 at a ceremony hosted by celebrity architect George Clarke.

George Clarke, who is involved in Building Better Communities for the second year running, said: “The funds donated as part of the Building Better Communities initiative have already made a huge difference to local charities and community groups, and can do the same for Denbigh Town Juniors FC.

"It’s an honour to be supporting them and I hope members of the public get behind their local community and cast their vote.”

The initiative is being supported by Jewson supplier brands: Velux; Marshalls, Polypipe; British Gypsum; Tarmac; Recticel and Norbord.
