JUST missing out on spots in a pair of European events.

That was the story of part of the weekend for Mark Webster.

The Denbigh dartist travelled to Barnsley to join the great and the good of the PDC for a variety of tournaments.

The busy weekend opened on Friday with a pair of European Tour qualifiers.

Players were competing to qualify for the German Darts Open and the Austrian Darts Open.

Aiming to book his spot in April's German Darts Open in Saarbrucken, Webster began his tilt at qualification with a comfortable 6-1 triumph over Chris Quantack.

However, Mark then lost out 6-3 to Steve Lennon in a pivotal last-36 contest.

There was a similar story for Webster during his Austrian Darts Open qualification campaign, which came to an end with a 6-3 loss at the hands of Steve West.

Earlier during the event, Webster had picked up victories versus Rhys Griffin (6-3) and Dave Ladley (6-2).

The remainder of the weekend in Barnsley comprised of Players' Championship tournaments.

During Saturday's competition, Webster was knocked out at the last-128 stage on the back of a 6-4 reverse to Gary Eastwood.

Flying Scotsman Gary Anderson continued his excellent form as he stormed to a 6-0 whitewash over Peter Wright in the final.

Fast forward to Sunday and Mark's tilt at the title opened with a 6-4 victory in his meeting with Paul Rowley.

However, there was disappointment for Webster when he was edged out 6-5 by Alan Tabern at the last-64 stage.

Anderson completed a brilliant weekend double by seeing off Jeffrey de Zwaan 6-2 in the final.
