YOU'VE really got to Hand it to the champions!

The Hand Inn became the Denbigh and District Darts League's B League champions after a tense last evening of arrows action.

Needing a win to secure the title, Bethan Jones hit a steady 19-dart leg to give the Hand a 5-3 victory over Railway B, which also sees them promoted back to the top tier of Denbigh darts.

The Plough Inn needed a point to take the second promotion slot, but they were denied by Golden Lion B, who grabbed a dramatic 5-3 victory to leapfrog their opponents and grab the runner's-up spot.

Turning to the A-League action and champions Masons A finished their campaign with a 14th straight victory.

To conclude the season, they defeated Masons B 8-0.

Dave Davies chipped out a 114 checkout, with fellow Masons man Mark Webster helping himself to a 124 finish.

Masons A wrapped up the title up weeks ago, but second place was still in the balance between Golden Lion A and the Hope & Anchor.

The Hope defeated Railway A 6-2, with Kelvin Williams hitting a 180.

Golden Lion A claimed a 6-2 win over Golden Lion C.

Ian Jones fired in a maximum during this contest.

That left the two sides to face each other in the last A-League contest of the winter season.

Golden Lion A defeated Hope and Anchor 5-3 on the night to make sure that both sides finished up level on points in the table.

However, it was the Hope who took the runners-up plaudits by virtue of their superior game difference over their Lionmen rivals.

This season was the first time the order of merit has been run officially, with players' win / loss league records determining an overall winner in an individual table.

Dil Martin was crowned order of merit king in the A-League, winning all 14 games with a loss of just two legs all season.

Stuart Barry (White Lion A) took the B-League honour.
