THERE has been cause for a double celebration for league champions.

Llandudno and District Table Tennis League champions Amlwch A achieved a league and cup double winning the first six matches in their Division One Cup final against Trefnant-based Trinity B.

Keith Williams was taken to a fifth game decider by both Chris Phillips and Stuart Deardon during the contest.

Reg John beat Phillips in four and Paul Collins won both of his singles in three straight.

When he repeated the feat in the doubles with the help of Williams, the cup was heading back to Anglesey.

In the final of the President's Trophy, Trinity C were set the task of restricting Rhyl C to below a 23-point average in each game.

Marcus Jones secured 28, 29 and 25 points in his matches, but this was not enough leeway.

Trinity C's Roy Williams, Fred Moore and Josh Gilmore made sure they won the final by 61 points, winning all ten encounters in the process.

Turning to Division Two and fifth-placed Craig-y-Don A beat sixth-placed Denbigh B 8-2 in their clash.

Nigel Watson secured a maximum, but he was taken to 11-9 in the fifth by Don Grigg.

Iain MacGillivray beat Bill Williams and Don Grigg defeated Keith Potter to earn Denbigh B their two points.
