DINBYCH 100

ABERGELE 0

DINBYCH were soon in their stride after their Six Nations break with a 16-try performance against a plucky Abergele side to notch up their 15th consecutive Division Two (North) victory.

In a far from one-sided encounter, the visiting forwards in particular were fiercely competitive throughout and they battled to the bitter end.

However, when the Dinbych pack won quick quality possession from set pieces or at the breakdown, the slick handling and pace of the backs proved too much for the Abergele defence as they ran in the avalanche of tries, almost all of them from long distance.

Left wing Kieran Bonar crossed for four tries, with right wing Aidyn Jones, centres Tom Seddon and Owain Davies, full back Gruff Roberts and replacement back Andrew Wilson each scoring a brace.

Others were scored by flanker Dan Lawrence and outside half Dan O'Sullivan, who also kicked 10 conversions for a match total of 25 points.

Equally important as their attacking prowess was their watertight defence, in which the tackling of hooker Geraint Madoc Jones, and props Gareth Jones and Peter Shoosmith was as effective as that of flanker Tom Eden, which stifled Abergele attacks at source close to set pieces and the breakdown area.

Dinbych took the lead after only two minutes when Aidyn Jones went over in the corner for a try after good work by Dan Lawrence and Tom Seddon.

Seddon then added two quick tries, the first a solo effort from a scrum on halfway and the second after taking an inside pass from Aidyn Jones to finish off a long-range attack.

Gruff Roberts then went over for Dinbych's bonus point try in the 12th minute after good approach play by Dan Lawrence, Owain Davies and lock David Haydock.

A short period of Abergele pressure was ended when Dan O'Sullivan made a long break out of his 22 to release Aidyn Jones for his second try.

Good approach play by lock Richard Williams and Dan Lawrence then created the opportunity for Kieran Bonar to cross in the corner for his first try.

Gruff Roberts then added his second as he cut inside to wrong-foot the defence as he ran in from halfway following lineout possession supplied by number eight Gareth Beach.

Bonar closed the first half scoring with a brace of tries, the first after clever inter-passing by scrum half Garin Roberts and the midfield backs.

For his second try, Bonar ran in from halfway after an Abergele move broke down.

Dan O'Sullivan kicked six conversions to leave Dinbych leading by 57 points at the interval.

There was no respite for Abergele in the second half, with Owain Davies soon adding Dinbych's 10th try via a solo effort from halfway.

Replacement back Andrew Wilson then adding a brace of tries, both from moves starting deep in the Dinbych half.

Kieran Bonar soon added his fourth score following good play by replacement centre Mat Hulse and Owain Davies.

It was Davies who crossed the whitewash next for his second of the afternoon after clever inter-passing with Aidyn Jones following a scrum on the Dinbych 10-metre line.

Dan O'Sullivan then cut through the defensive line to cross at the posts after good approach play by prop Osian Williams, Dan Lawrence and Aidyn Jones.

Dan Lawrence capped a fine performance to close the Dinbych scoring as he powered over in the corner after Osian Williams had made incisive surge into the heart of the Abergele defence.

O'Sullivan added four further conversions in the second half.
