THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised following a fun night of entertainment.

Last month, Ruthin businessman Huw Howatson hosted a hugely successful Noson Llawen at Ruthin Rugby Club.

Entertainment for the evening was provided by the hilarious Y Tri Digri, Jonathon Davies and Rhys Meirion.

A fantastic time was had by all and the laughter could be heard all around.

The singing on the night was second-to-none, with Jonathon's excellent rendition of Nessun Dorma and Rhys' Anfonaf Angel silencing the room.

Food was kindly provided by local butcher Clwyd Dowell and with the raffle and auction of promises, the grand total raised was in excess of £8,000.

This money will be shared between the junior section of Ruthin Rugby Club and the Hospice of the Good Shepherd for their care of Richard Holmes, who was a good friend and colleague to Huw Howatson and the Ruthin community.

Ruthin Rugby Club would like to thank everyone who donated to the auction of promises and all who bid so highly for the lots on offer.

This would not have been possible without the goodwill of the local community, who always come out and support such events.

"We would also like to thank everyone who voluntarily gave up their time to help organise this successful evening," said a spokesperson.
