LLANGOLLEN LADIES 46
HOLYHEAD 10
LOCALS, supporters and even a trailer full of sheep were just some of the spectators who congregated at Tower Field to watch one of the final matches of the Game On league.
At their home ground, Llangollen took on a much-improved Holyhead to cement second place.
The first half began with Llangollen on top and they took an early lead with a try from full back Ashleigh Davies.
Llan continued to dominate possession, keeping play in the Holyhead half and showing off their skills, with a seamless switch pass from Claire Taylor setting up inside centre Katy Gittins to dive over the line.
The home team bagged three further tries from winger Steph Jones, scrum half Delyth Roberts and centre Katy Gittins, before Holyhead struck back.
Some quick footwork from the scrum half secured a try.
This comeback was short-lived, though, and Ashleigh Davies got over the line for Llan's fifth try.
Ruth Williams adding the extras to make it 32-5 at half-time.
Holyhead scored a second try early in the second half, however Llan responded with lock Sara Mault breaking through the defence for a huge run down the field before crashing over the line.
This was swiftly followed by another cracking try from flanker Stacey Taylor, with fly half Ruth Williams converting both.
Llan's woman of the match was scrum half Delyth Roberts.
