ONE of the country's top comics will be paying a visit to North Wales later this week.

The William Aston Hall, in Wrexham, will play host to Rhod Gilbert this Saturday, February 2.

He will be on stage at the venue from 8pm.

Carmarthen comedian Rhod returns to comedy with The Book of John after a six-year hiatus.

In the show he discusses the unfortunate turns his life has taken since the last time he was on stage.

Rhod got into professional comedy in 2002.

Within 18 months, Rhod had already won several different talent competitions and was nominated for the Perrier Newcomer award for his first solo show in 2005 at Edinburgh Fringe, entitled 1984.

His 2008 show, Rhod Gilbert and the Award-Winning Mince Pie, saw Gilbert question his sanity, his career and his life after suffering a mental breakdown brought on by the award-winning mince pie at a motorway services.
