WELSH singer-song writer Alys Williams is joining forces with a top orchestra for a special concert performance in Bangor.

The acclaimed Caernarfon-born mum is known for her appearances on the TV show The Voice.

She will be singing alongside the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, with support from Blodau Gwylltion, at the Theatr Bryn Terfel, Pontio, on Saturday, November 24.

It will be a unique chance for audiences in Bangor to hear Alys performing songs from her repertoire, re-imagined for voice and orchestra.

Alys will be showcasing well-known tunes like the Ryan and Ronnie classic Pan Fo’r Nos yn Hir, along with songs penned by Alys herself, including Blodau Papur and a new version of Gweld y Byd Mewn Lliw in an atmospheric new arrangement for Alys and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales.

Alys said: “Singing with a full orchestra is such an inspiring and uplifting experience...I can’t wait!”

The BBC’s National Orchestra of Wales is also set to take to the stage in Bangor and Llandudno performing classical favourite, Beethoven’s Fifth his fledgling First symphony. Principal guest conductor is Xian Zhang.

Weber’s Clarinet Concerto, will be performed by BBC NOW’s principal clarinet player Robert Plane.
