AN ACTRESS has been granted her pantomime wish to play a "strong" and "feisty" princess for a second year running.

Gemma Naylor from Nick Jnr’s Go Go Go! will take on the role of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin, running at Rhyl Pavilion between Wednesday, December 12 and Saturday, January 5.

Naylor will star in the production alongside David Perkins (Aladdin) and Denbigh’s Sean Jones (Wishee Washee). Leading the cast is Jonathan Wrather, former Emmerdale star, who will take to the stage as villain Abanazar.

Naylor was trained in Musical Theatre at Bird College on a full scholarship.

She confessed that taking on the role of a princess was “so much fun” and joked that it was a persona she didn’t like to lose when she came off stage.

Last year, Naylor played Cinderella in the pantomime at Malvern Theatres.

“Jasmine is a little more feisty,” she said.

"She is quite fun to play as you get to be, I want to say, more powerful. They are both strong women in different ways. Both telling their dads what they are going to do.

“I hope to make Jasmine strong, independent and lovable."

Naylor, who is a qualified personal trainer and yoga instructor, use to take summer vacations on Anglesey but this is her first time in Rhyl.

“The theatre is beautiful. I had no idea that Rhyl had such a beautiful venue," she added.
