A LANDSCAPE painter will mark his 60th birthday with 60 works of art in Llanrwst this month.

Stephen John Owen will celebrate his landmark birthday with silent mountains and roaring seas at Ffin y Parc Gallery.

Born in Caernarfon in 1959, Stephen now lives in Groeslon, near Penygroes and now the self-taught artist will share his love of the countryside in his largest show to date,.

Mr Owen said: "All the paintings in this exhibition have a very personal meaning for me.

“They are made of memories, some of them from right back when I was a child.

“I used to love travelling round the North Wales countryside, everything was a magical adventure.”

Gallery owner Ralph Sanders said: “Stephen’s approach is open, simple and sincere.

“The work emerges from his love for and connection to these places and his desire to be absolutely nowhere else.”
