A SHIPLOAD of salty sea dogs are set to come ashore and commandeer the Marine Lake next month.

Over the three day late May bank holiday weekend, starting on Friday 25 at 10.30am, Rhyl Miniature Railway will add a rail mounted pirate ship to proceedings for their fourth annual Pirate Weekend.

The event will feature treasure hunts, a funfair, stalls, a wheelie bus and magic as well as plenty of pirates courtesy of Prestatyn SFX retailers The Garden Den.

Children can also win prizes oat 2pm each day by put Long John Silver himself to shame in the Best Dressed Pirate competition.

Justin Bell, a trustee of the railway, said: “we will have lots of trains running including our pirate boa - which could be the only rail mounted pirate ship in the world - so all you landlubbers need to head on down to the Marine Lake for a weekend a swash buckling fun and games.”

All of the activities are activities are free for anyone who travels on the train.The train fare is £3 per adult and £1.50 per child age between two and14. Children under the age of two are carried free of charge, and there is no need to book in advance.
