THERE'S good news for live music lovers and beard fans looking for a banging Bangor gig to get the January blues rocking.

Irish band Crow Black Chicken are playing at the Blue Sky Cafe, on the High Street, on Friday, January 17.

The long-bearded power trio have been described as “an Irish ZZ top.”

Since forming in 2009, Crow Black Chicken have earned acclaim for their 'dirty southern blues' sound.

The band combines elements of folk, hard rock with the blues rock of bands like Gov’t Mule, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Led Zeppelin.

The band consists of Christy O Hanlon (vocals, guitar), Stephen McGrath (bass) and Gev Barrett (drums, backing vocals).

They have supported ZZ Top at The Marquee in Cork, played Glastonbury twice and were picked in the top five blues albums by Classic Rock Blues Magazine.

Earlier this year, they were voted the “best act” by the audience of the Introducing Stage at The Great British Rock & Blues Festival. They will return in 2020, to play the main stage.

Seeing them play live is highly recommended! Doors open at the Blue Sky Cafe at 7pm, the gig starts at 8pm.

Advance tickets are £12 from the cafe or online (10% booking fee) https://www.wegottickets.com/event/491466/
