THE apple of the Fleabag’s eye will flee her troubled life to star in a provocative comedy in Bangor.

Matthew Warchus directs Irish actor Andrew Scott in National Theatre Live’s production of Noël Coward’s Present Laughter, screening to Theatr Pontio with an encore performance following its autumn run.

Recently making waves on the Golden Globes 2020 red carpet last week, man of the minute Scott is best known as the love interest 'Hot Priest' in the award winning Fleabag, written by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

He is also no doubt familiar to fans of BBC’s Sherlock, where he presented a fresh take on the classic villain Moriarty.

Captured live from The Old Vic in London, Present Laughter is a giddy and surprisingly modern reflection on fame, desire and loneliness.

As he prepares to embark on an overseas tour, star actor Garry Essendine’s colourful life is in danger of spiralling out of control.

Engulfed by an escalating identity crisis as his many and various relationships compete for his attention, Garry’s few remaining days at home are a chaotic whirlwind of love, sex, panic and soul-searching.

The Present Laughter encore performance screens to Pontio on Wednesday, January 29 at 7pm.

Tickets are £13, with concessions available.
