THE hard-hitting masterpiece that launched the careers of Martin Scorcese and Robert De Niro returns to the big screen in Rhyl in April.

The Little Theatre’s Wicked Cult Cinema will screen the absolute must-see 70s neo-noir Taxi Driver on Wednesday, April 8 at 7.30pm.

A critical darling as well as commercial success in 1976, the controversial psychological thriller was nominated for four Academy Awards - including Best Picture, Best Actor for De Niro and and Best Supporting Actress for a young Jodie Foster - and received the Palme d’Or at that year's Cannes Film Festival.

The film continues to be a mainstay of critics polls, and its influence can still be felt on the movies of today, particularly last year's billion dollar grossing smash Joker.

Taxi Driver follows the ex-marine Travis Bickle, who takes a night job in a New York cab to cope with his insomnia.

Disgusted by the corruption he sees infest the city at night, Bickle's thought turn increasingly to violence before culminating in an unforgettably violent shootout by the mohawked vigilante.

as close to perfect as modern cinema gets, don't miss the chance to see this on the big screen.

Admission is 33, available on the door.
