THE Rhyl Pavilion has shut up shop alongside other theatres and cinemas in North Wales.

All shows have been postponed at the venue until Monday, April 6 as more strict measure to combat the Coronavirus outbreak come into place,

The Pavilion's closure joins fellow promenade business Vue Cinema, while Llandudno's Venue Cymru and Bangor's Pontio centre also closed to the public on Tuesday, March 17. The theatre's 1891 restaurant will tentatively remain open until further notice.

A spokesperson for the Pavilion said; "The health and wellbeing of our valued customers, staff and volunteers is always Denbighshire Leisure’s top priority and following discussing with promoters of upcoming shows and in light of Government advice to reduce unnecessary social contact, we have taken the decision to postpone all shows at the Rhyl Pavilion Theatre until April 6.

"We appreciate this will be a disappointment to those looking forward to visiting us, as it is to all of our team, but our commitment to maintaining healthy communities does not change, even under difficult circumstances.

"As of today - Wednesday, March 18 - our 1891 Restaurant will open as planned on Thursday, but we will of course update you as further government advice is released.

"We are asking all customers to wash or sanitise their hands when they enter our centres and of course, please follow Government advice and stay at home if you are unwell."

Among the postponed shows Psychic Sally on tonight, The Carpenters Story on Friday 20, Thank ABBA for the Music on Saturday 21, The Bon Jovi Experience on Friday 27 and Lost in the Rhythm on Saturday 28. The theatre's five night flagship run of By The Waters of Liverpool, from Tuesday 31 to Friday, April 4 has been cancelled. Currently the Wizard of Oz Easter panto starring Basil Brush and Kerry Katona on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 is scheduled to go ahead.

The spokesperson added: "Thank you for your understanding. The Box Office will remain open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm."
