THE funeral of a boy who died in a tragic rope swing accident is to be held next week. Ethan Thomas Brady-Rainey, of Trevor, is believed to have died after falling while on a rope swing near to the River Dee, at the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct last Wednesday. The 12-year-old was Year 8 pupil at Ysgol Dinas Brân, and a spokesman for the school described him as “a popular boy who loved sport”.In the last week, friends and family have placed scores of tributes near to the scene of the incident, and his fellow pupils are currently putting togethertributes in his memory. Flowers have been left at the scene of the accident, along with a Liverpool FC scarf tied to a signpost. Heartfelt written messages were also placed on the post in Ethan’s memory.His funeral will take place at Pentrebychan Crematorium at 3pm on Monday and is intended to be a celebration of his life. The family have requested donations be made to the local community in lieu of flowers. A spokesman for Ysgol Dinas Bran has confirmed the school will remain open on the day, but staff and pupils who wish to attend will be able to. Pupils have also been working on their own tributes to Ethan. He said: “The school has been supporting pupils and teachers following Ethan’s tragic death last week. “Ethan’s funeral is due to take place at 3pm on Monday, so the school will remain open as usual. “However, all the staff and students wishing to attend the funeral will be able to do so. “Some of the students have created their own tributes and are sharing their memories of Ethan. “These tributes will be passed on to the family. “We have been in contact with Ethan’s family and we will be contacting them at an appropriate time, to discuss a fitting way for Ysgol Dinas Bran to remember and commemorate Ethan’s life.” An inquest into Ethan’s death was opened in Ruthin on Monday. He leaves behind mother Tammie, father Keith, step-father John, and brother Callum.
