FOLLOWING the dramas of the London Marathon, runners in Denbighshire will have the opportunity to show their grit this weekend.

The half-marathon and 10km Lakes Trail Races, based up at Llyn’s Brenig and Alwen, will be hosted by Ruthin-based outdoor fitness and events company OutFit on May 6.

The half-marathon will kick off at 10am at the Llyn Brenig Visitor Centre, with the 10km race starting 15 minutes later at the Brenig Dam.

Joe Cooper, OutFit owner and race director, said: "The 10km and half marathon routes strike a great balance between being challenging and achievable, while runners will get to take in the breathtaking scenery of Hiraethog.

"Running is one of the most natural forms of exercise there is, we are built for it. Furthermore, the physical and mental benefits to be had are great, and the beauty of off road running in particular is that it takes you to places off the beaten track, and lends itself really well to exploration.

"All of our events are friendly and personable and are suitable for beginners and experienced runners alike. The event is run by runners for runners."

Registration is available on the day at the Llyn Brenig Visitor Centre between 8.30am and 9.30am, and online before the day at www.out-fit.co.uk
