THE heat was on during a special charity fundraiser in the Vale of Clwyd.

Tens of players turned out in force recently to compete in a match at Trefnant in aid of Children With Cancer.

Some 26 players turned out for the occasion on a sweltering day, ranging from 18 years of age all the way up to 61.

As well as the football match, a whole host of other fundraising events were lined-up on the day.

An estimated £1,200 has so far been raised, with organisers hoping this will reach £1,500 in due course.

Martin Fearnley, one of the organisers alongside Nathan Pope and John Roberts, said: "It was a great day, although very hot to play in, especially at my tender years!

"Thanks to all players, supporters, sponsors, raffle prize givers, referees Ron Pope and Arwyn Davies, groundsman Peter Featham and the Trefnant pub and DJ, and anyone else involved."
