A DEE Valley farm will be the first in the UK to open a drive-thru.

Rhug Estate, near Corwen, is set to make retail history this week by opening what is believed to be the first of its kind at the entrance to the farm.

Lord Newborough, owner of the estate, said, “In this busy world we live in I recognise that not everyone has the time to stop at our bistro or at the take away, so the new drive through will complement the facilities that we already have and provide an easy, quick, solution to the hungry traveller who wants to get back on their journey without delay.

"This will hopefully have broad appeal to locals and holiday makers alike.”

The new drive thru is positioned at the entrance to the farm, and will serve hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, paninis, pastries, toasties and cakes.

In line with Rhug Estate’s sustainability policy, all the packaging used, including sandwich containers, hot drinks cups, stirrers, cutlery and the straws, will be compostable.

The drive through will be open on Monday to Saturday from 7am until 8pm, and on Sundays from 8am until 7pm.
