A SCHOOL has been left devastated after mindless vandals went on a rampage and trashed their cabin - just days before the start of the new term.

Ysgol Y Parc Infants, Denbigh, were targeted by vandals on Wednesday night. The offenders "trespassed" onto school property and destroyed their Caban Coed. The school's brand new mud kitchen was being stored in the cabin.

Ysgol y Parc posted on Facebook: "We have just received some bad news. Vandals have trespassed onto school property and have trashed our Caban Coed. All the staff are extremely upset at this vandalism.

"We are appealing for any witnesses and ask that you contact school or the police with any information. Our brand new mud kitchen that we had raised the funds to pay for was being stored in there over the summer and we cannot afford to replace it.

"What an upsetting end to our summer. Please if anyone has any information please let us know."

Kind-hearted community members have rallied around to support the school and have offered to help repair and tidy the site.

The school posted: "We are all so overwhelmed with the support everyone has offered the school. The company that originally supplied and built the Caban Coed have offered to repair it free of charge."

A spokesperson for the school told the Free Press: "We think it happened the night before last and the police have been contacted."

Anyone with information is asked to telephone 101.
