Two new independent members have been appointed to the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.


Helen Wilkinson has served as chief executive of the Denbighshire Voluntary Services Council since 2016 and is a Wales committee member for the Big Lottery Fund.


She has worked in public policy, communications and social entrepreneurship for more than two decades with a wide range of organisations, including a number of charities.


Lucy Reid has worked in private and public sector organisations for more than 20 years, including 18 years in the NHS, and undertakes a number of judicial roles across the UK.


Meanwhile, Marian Wyn Jones has been appointed to the role of vice-chairman.


The board’s new chairman, Mark Polin, took up his up his post on September 1, succeeding Dr Peter Higson in the role.


All of the posts were filled following a public appointments recruitment process.


Mr Polin said: “Helen, Lucy and Marian bring a wealth of experience to the board and will play a vital role in our ongoing work to improve health services across North Wales.


“I wish to thank our outgoing independent member, Ceri Stradling, for his commitment to the health board over recent years.


“I would also like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Dr Peter Higson for his service as chairman of the health board over the last five years and wish him every success for the future.”
