A DOG friendly Flintshire pub has been nominated for a national award to recognise its hospitable surroundings for our four-legged friends.
The Crown Inn, in Pantymwyn, is among a number of Welsh pubs which have been shortlisted for the annual Dog Friendly Pub Awards.
Every year dog sitting company Dogbuddy select 12 regional winners from across the UK who are recognised as being the most dog friendly pubs.
They are each be awarded with an exclusive DogBuddy 'Dog-friendly Pub' regional winner plaque and unique treat jar trophy to display on their bar with pride.
To be marked as dog friendly, pubs must show that, for example, there are water bowls always available, there is clear signage saying that dogs are welcome and there has to be somewhere shaded during warm weather for dogs to lay.
But to win the award, these shortlisted pubs need to be seen to be going the extra mile, which includes offering dog treats behind the bar, a specially designed area for dogs and somewhere that caters for muddy boots and wet paws, especially if the pub is on or nearby to a walking route.
Martin Peters said: ''We try our best to cater for people with dogs, so both dogs and their owners feel comfortable at our pub.
''While the dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant area, we have a television room where they can go, and we provide snacks and water for them.''
