OCTOBER is here and we are approaching the halfway point of the first half of the season.

Bala Town's start to the season has been decent on the whole, with good wins against Llandudno, Cefn Druids and Carmarthen and an impressive draw against league champions The New Saints.

Bala's opening game of the season was at home to Carmarthen Town, which saw midfielder Henry Jones make headlines and crash social media when his audacious rabona arrived to striker Steven Tames, who headed in the first goal.

This earned Tamesy the WPL goal of the month accolade for August and Henry picked up the player of the month award too!

The goal has been watched over three million times on social media, so if you haven't seen it yet, make sure you have a look later!

We have had losses too, against Newtown and a very controversial match at Barry Town United, so no-one can say that this season is boring!

Clubs are taking points off each other all over the shop and the Lakesiders now seem to be hitting their stride after three wins and a draw, plus reaching the quarter-final stage of the League Cup in recent weeks.

The Academy teams are in full swing of their seasons too, with our young U-19s sitting mid-table after a difficult start to the season, but picking up a solid win against Bangor City recently.

Meanwhile, our U-12s, 14s and 16s have had an excellent starts to the campaign with five wins out of their six opening fixtures to date.

The future is certainly looking bright for the Lakesiders.

Maes Tegid is, as always, a hive of activity, with local sides Bala Juniors, Llanuwchllyn, Corwen and Porthmadog all holding weekly training sessions on the pitch now as we head into the winter.

Coleg Meirion Dwyfor hosted a Welsh Cup selection game and Ysgol y Berwyn have been in action during the past week too.

We have an Urdd tournament that will see hundreds of children in action in the next fortnight, as well as a couple of FAW courses, including safeguarding and goalkeeping, so get yourselves registered on to the courses via their website.

Bala Town in the Community has been busy with the six-a-side league and all new girls' sessions on a Monday evening and hosting numerous holiday camps!.

Last week, our new online club shop was launched with Macron Store Neath, so pop over to our website to get kitted our in our new merchandise range!

We have regular pitch slots available throughout the winter, with matchday packages also available for any clubs having pitch troubles.
