A TEAM of gardeners is celebrating the launch of a calendar that showcases Denbigh throughout the seasons.

The 2019 calendar by Denbigh in Bloom (DIB), the volunteer gardening task force, is a compilation of winning photos from the group's summer photography competition that received over 65 entries.

The group has given Denbigh a floral revolution in recent months, with award-winning work on Denbigh high street and displays at two main roundabouts and Temple Bar walkway.

It is hoped all funds raised from the calendar sales will contribute to the group's upcoming projects.

The competition judging took place in September by Lyndsey Tasker, chair of DIB, and lady Elizabeth Hanmer, high sheriff of Clwyd.

Helena Cawthray vice chair of DIB, said: “We were really unsure if we would get any entries, but were delighted to have so many really fantastic photos to choose from. Lady Hanmer was very impressed and we’re hoping this could become a regular event.

"I’d certainly like to encourage everyone to continue to capture lovely scenes that show off Denbigh in Bloom for next year’s competition."

The calendar, which costs £5, was launched at the Plum Feast and are now available for purchase from Denbigh businesses Y Granar, Costello’s Floral Design, The White Lion pub, Greenfingers Garden Centre and The Carpet Emporium.

Last week the group embarked on its winter programme with new bedding on the high street and work to re-establish planting at the entrance to Trewen.
