THREE teenagers who died in a horror crash will be remembered during a truck convoy tonight.

North Wales Truck Gathering will be carrying out the convoy tonight (Sunday) in respect of John Michael Jones, 18, and Leon Rice, 17, both from Ruthin and Colin Hornsby, 17, who was from Droylsden, Greater Manchester.

The teenagers died in a crash on Friday night which happened on Graig Road between Denbigh and Trefnant.

A message on the North Wales Truck Gathering page read: "We at North Wales Truck Gathering are doing a convoy out of respect for the young lads and their families who have lost their lives and those that are still fighting for them."

The event is taking place at 6pm from Ruthin Rugby Club.

A lantern parade will then be held back at the club.

The post added: "We understand due that some can't attend in a truck but vans and cars can follow and are more than welcome.

"Truckers Unite, we are family."

Another post called Michael a "true friend" and supporter of North Wales Truck Gathering.

It added: "Always smiling and willing to help us out you will be missed by all Michael Jones.

"Thoughts are with Michael's family and friends at this very sad time."

The crash involved two vehicles - a Vauxhall Corsa and a Vauxhall Antara.

A 16-year-old boy who was a passenger in the Corsa remains in a critical condition at hospital in Aintree, Liverpool.

A 19-year-old, who was also in the Corsa, was taken to at Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan with serious injuries.

A 68-year-old female passenger from the Vauxhall Antara has been transferred to hospital in Stoke with serious injuries.

A 66-year-old male driver also suffered minor injuries.

Sergeant Leigh Evans of the Roads Policing Unit said: “A thorough investigation into last night’s tragedy is ongoing in order that we can fully understand what happened.

“Our thoughts remain with the three families during this incredibly difficult time. All are being supported by specially-trained Family Liaison Officers.

“We have spoken to a number of people who present during the incident but we continue to appeal to anyone who we haven’t yet spoken with to get in touch.”
