A SUPERMARKET has relaunched after a year-and-a-half of construction work.

The Free Press team visited Morrisons in Denbigh to meet the community in attendance for the relaunch of the supermarket following an 18-month extension project.

The supermarket on Smithfield Road has received two extensions at the front and back of the building that has allowed for the expansion of its café, a brand-new indoor garden centre and foyer, and a range of new facilities.

The store held its launch event on Thursday, October 25, when the community were able to see the completed works.

The extension was carried out by Novus Property Solutions and Morrisons Head Office following a planning application submitted by store manager Dean Conway-Williams.

The building work will be met with updated facilities such as a photo booth, extended clothing range, Coinstar machine that trades coins for a same-sum Morrisons voucher, Amazon lockers and a key cutting service.

Cakes and pizzas will also be made in-house for the first time.

Mr Williams, who was joined by mayor of Denbigh Catherine Jones and town councillors for a tour around the supermarket's new layout, said: “The extension has been years in the making as Morrisons is looking to modernise many of its stores.

“The new and updated services on offer in Denbigh will add value to the customer experience."

Seven members of the store's team also received certificates to commemorate 20 years of service there, while staff were handing out maps detailing the new layout and hosted a raffle with customers.

Cllr Jones said: "I'd like to thank Dean and all the staff for welcoming myself and my fellow councillors to their celebration last week.

"The tour around the store was wonderful.

"It is clean, bright and spacious, which will be a delight to shop in for everyone.

"The new services will cater for so many people in Denbigh and the café is in a smashing location for friends to catch up and sample the new menu.

"It is a great asset to the town."
