A CHARITY aiming to improve the wellbeing of residents has been shortlisted for a national award.
The South Denbighshire Community Partnership (SDCP), based in Corwen, has been selected for the Countryside Alliance Awards – known as the ‘rural Oscars’ – that celebrate the contribution made by rural charities to their communities across the UK.
The SDCP has had an extremely busy year, setting up a ‘dial-a-ride’ scheme to enable isolated elderly and disabled people to book a cab driven by a volunteer to take them to a doctors, hospital or hairdressing appointment, or to attend social groups and visit friends when they would otherwise be unable to.
The charity has also set up a ‘meals on wheels’ scheme to provide such residents in the town with freshly prepared meals.
A spokesman for the SDCP thanked whoever nominated them for the award and said they are “overwhelmed and very grateful”.
A spokesperson for the SDCP said: “We do not know who has nominated the partnership but we are overwhelmed and very grateful.”
The awards are public nomination-led and close on December 9.
