A SCHOOL was transformed into a pumpkin patch for Halloween.
St George Church in Wales primary school in Abergele was able to showcase a sea of pumpkins thanks to Caulmert, a St Asaph-based engineering, environmental and planning consultancy, who donated 80 fleshy fruits.
Pupils took them home and decorated them. A party was held and funds were raised for the school.
Andrew Roberts, headteacher, said: "I am thrilled with the generosity of Caulmert who worked closely with the school parent-teacher association (PTA) to source and fund the pumpkins for the pumpkin party.
“The pupils were very excited to see the school field transformed into a giant pumpkin patch."
Party ticket sales will go towards the purchase of a polytunnel which acts as the school's greenhouse. St George, in partnership with its PTA, is also raising money for a modification of its original Victorian school house to provide a classroom for nursery pupils.
Donna Milne, executive director at Caulmert, said: “We’re pleased to have used local produce from a small business, so that the project supported as many people in the community as possible.”
