THERE will be some Grand days out for Mark Webster on the back of a magical Monday.

The Denbigh dartist and Stephen Bunting headlined the eight bwin Grand Slam of Darts qualifiers on Monday night as the field for the Wolverhampton event was finalised.

The last-chance qualifier for PDC tour card holders saw 93 hopefuls in action at Wigan's Robin Park Tennis Centre as they battled for precious Grand Slam spots.

Bunting and Webster raced through qualification to book spots in the £450,000 tournament at the Aldersley Leisure Village from November 10-18, alongside four Grand Slam debutants.

Three-time Wolverhampton quarter-finalist Webster edged out World Matchplay semi-finalist Jeffrey de Zwaan 5-4 in their decider to ensure his return to the event, after also seeing off Mario Robbe and Matthew Edgar.

Webster: "I'm pleased.

"I needed something to give me a kick up the backside."

The former BDO Lakeside world champion didn't have things all his own way in the decider versus de Zwaan.

From being 3-1 down, Webster hit back to go 4-3 ahead, only for his opponent to take the next leg to set up a decider.

"It was a nervy last leg," added Webster.

"I missed double six and he missed two darts at the double.

"I was pleased I was at the double first, though, and I then hit double six."

Mark began his run in the last-64 stage by defeating Mario Robbe 5-3.

Things were more straight-forward during the next round, with Webster defeating Matthew Edgar 5-1, prior to his thrilling success versus de Zwaan.

Looking ahead to Wolverhampton, Webster added: "I said I don't care if I get a death group, because 48 hours ago I wasn't in the Grand Slam.

"It's getting me back on TV and it reminds people I'm still about.

"I knew I was going to Wolves anyway and the Sky Sports lads have been texting me well done messages."

There was disappointment for world number five Daryl Gurney as he lost out to Jan Dekker, while former finalists Robert Thornton and Dave Chisnall and two-time semi-finalist Adrian Lewis also missed out.
